The 3rd International Model-OIC (3rd IMOIC) was successfully held on 2-6 July, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with participation of 130 students from the top-tier Universities in the OIC Member States, student leaders of over 10 national Model-OIC Clubs, prominent scholars and diplomats, resulting with the conference’s resolutions on 3 vital issues of the OIC agenda.
The group of outstanding students of politics and international relations, during 5 days of the Global Summit simulations, received high-end trainings in critical tools of understanding and further promoting of knowledge based approach to the contemporary international relations and had chance to practice their skills in two days simulation games. During the first 3 days, students were trained about the Model OIC simulation games by the academic committee and they were also thought politics and foreign policy by the respective Professors as well as prominent scholars.
In the content of the Global Summit 2013 which is co-organized by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), issues that have been discussed during the simulations were: “Perspectives of Economic and Military Integration in the OIC Member States in the XXI Century”, “The Ways of Overcoming the Obstacles Young Muslim Women Face in Public Participation” and “Model of Political and Social System in Muslim Countries: Peaceful Coexistence and Fighting Against Inter-religious and Inter-sectarian Conflicts”.
Based on the theme ‘New Perspectives for Democracy: Diversity, Tolerance and Respect’, participants resulted 3 resolutions where at the end of the event they sought the work of social media in order to contribute the harmony between sectarian conflicts and dialogue between religions.
Meanwhile official opening ceremony of the 3rd International Model OIC is held at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) campus of International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM) on 4th July, 2013.
The Sultan of Pahang, who is also the constitutional head of IIUM, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’inBillah , accompanied by the Associate Professor Askin Asan, the Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policies of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Chief of Cabinet of ICYF-DC, Prof. Dato\’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin , Rector of the IIUM, ambassadors, speakers, guests and more than 130 delegates from OIC Member States were present in the opening ceremony.
At the end of closing and award ceremony, all of the students are given certificate of participation and top ten delegates of the 3rd International Model OIC were given certificate of honour. While Republic of Turkey won the 1st place, Kazakhstan 2nd and Azerbaijan got 3rd places in the simulation games.
