ICYF-DC invites photographers to take part in “Photo4Tolerance” photo contest.
The details about the “Photo4Tolerance”, was presented at the dinner hosted by ICYF-DC on May 21st, at the side of the UN-OIC Cooperation meeting with participation of almost 100 representatives from the UN and OIC institutions, such as UNESCO, UNDP, UNFPA, UNOSSC, UNEP, IRCICA, ISESCO, ICCI and IDB.
Chief of Cabinet of the ICYF-DC International Secretariat Elmaddin Mehdiyev said, “We believe that, young people have something to say about their world and can become actors of change” during his presentation of the project. “Diversity is the cultural wealth of humanity. Tolarence is the base for the harmony. Dialogue is the main component for the peace. Hope for a brighter future depends on our capacity of living together in a global world” Mehdiyev stated.
During his presantation, Elmaddin Mehdiyev has also presented the prices for the winners of the contest. At the end of the contest, there is going to be distribution of 9 awards in total. Top three winners will be identified by the international jury and get the monetary awards while the contestants selected by the public vote will be awarded with photo cameras and iPads.
As the name suggests, the “Photo4Tolerance” contest will gather photographs that illustrates the importance of tolerance and respect for the rights of the people belonging to the different religious, cultural, ethnic and linguistic groups.
The contest, that is open to all professional and amateur photographers among 16-35 years old, is aiming to encourage young people to recognize the importance of dialogue in overcoming differences. Non-professional photographers are particularly encouraged to participate. There is a limit of two photos per participant and the deadline for submitting entries is July 15.
The contest is initiated and financed by the ICYF-DC.
