ICYF-DC President Initiatives at OIC Environment Ministerial Conference
The President of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, Amb. Elshad Iskandarov, participated at the 7th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, held on 25-26th October 2017 in ISESCO Headquarters in Rabat, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and Her Royal Highness Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
During his address to the 1st Ministerial Plenary Session of the conference, ICYF-DC President Amb. Iskandarov presented a concrete call for youth action mentioning the necessity of engaging strategicyouth human capital reserves throughout OIC member states to confront the shared challenge of climate change, and for realizing critical targets of sustainable development and environmental protection. In this regard, Amb. Iskandarov noted that the 4th Islamic Conference Youth and Sports Ministers conference was set to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2018, where ICYF-DC would introduce essential environmental issues to the soon-to-be finalized OIC Youth Strategy, and ICYF-DC flagship initiatives.
During his speech, Amb. Iskandarov emphasized the need for constructive action on environmental issues, while calling for two concrete initiatives including the establishment of a prize recognizing best youth environment projects, and further establishing the practice of Youth Model of Environmental Ministers, a consultative youthgathering, prior to the 8th Environmental Ministerial Conference.
