ICYF-DC delegation participates at the 44th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held in Abidjan, the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, on 10-11 July 2017. The Session discusses the main issues related with the OIC geography, including the activities of the OIC institutions. In this regard, the special report of ICYF-DC on its activities were presented to the work of the Session and got appraisal by the Member States.
The special resolution on ICYF-DC is on the agenda of the OIC Member States which underlines the important activities conducted by ICYF-DC as well as institutional matters related with ICYF-DC.
In the framework of the Conference the special Brainstorming Session on Youth, Peace and Development in World of Solidarity was organized on 11 July. Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Director General of ICYF-DC for Youth Policy, Education and Training addressed the Ministers on behalf of ICYF-DC in the said session underlying the importance of having a coordinated youth policy in the OIC domain and ICYF-DC endeavors to this end, including preparation of the OIC Youth Strategy. He mnetioned that the theme of the CFM and the Brainstorming Session is a testimony of the vital position placed by PIC Member States on the capability and responsibility of young people to be the changing vector in the societies towards progress and development.
During the Brainstorming Session the OIC Foreign Ministers supported the idea of having pre-youth events within the context of relevant OIC Ministerial Meetings. Referring to the OIC Young Leader Summit, organized as pre-Summit Youth Event of the 13th Islamic Summit of the Heads of States in Istanbul last year (April 2016, Istanbul), ICYF-DC stated its readinessto cooperate with Bangladesh, host country of the 45th CFM, towards convening a pre-CFM Youth Event next year in Dhaka.
The Session will finish its work today (11 July) with adoption of final documents, including the resolutions on the agenda items.
