North Africa OIC Youth Strategy Consultation Meeting held in Rabat, Morocco
July 4, 2018. Rabat, Kingdom Morocco. The 1st North Africa OIC Youth Strategy Consultation Meeting was held successfully, convened by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation with the participation of young leaders from youth organizations throughout Africa, and Morocco. Mr. Elchin Askarov, Director of Eurasian Regional Center (ERC) of the Forum presented a statement to the dedicated youth, addressed by H.E Ambassador Elshad Iskandarov, President of the ICYF-DC. Amb. Iskandarov called on young leaders to take initiative and make full use of the consultation to discuss, share and identify best practices and opportunities for serving the cause of youth and the Muslim world while expressing his belief in the promise and results of the consultation meeting.
The representative of the ERC, ICYF-DC Mr. Alpay Ahmadov presented on ICYF-DC activities since its establishment in 2004, particularly regarding international projects such as the Youth for Alliance of Civilizations, Justice for Khojaly international awareness campaign, Islamic Conference Youth Entrepreneurship Network, Model OIC, OIC Youth Capital, Academy of International Relations and much more.
The ICYF-DC representative Mr. Adam Bensaid gave a detailed presentation on the specifics of the OIC Youth Strategy while presenting the strategic rationale behind its themes, and organizing workshops on its implementation and the sharing of best practices. He further presented the Joint Youth Action Plan adopted in the 3rd Islamic Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports in October 2016, in Istanbul while identifying its components, implementation progress and shared interests for participants. The consultation emphasized the significance of both documents to the future of Muslim youth.
Representatives of youth organizations then took part in the discussions within the framework of the working groups devoted to the political, social-political and cultural challenges of youth living in North Africa as well as the Middle East. Following the discussions, young leaders made presentations on their proposed solutions, proposals and solutions to the problems of education, extremism, and unemployment among youth in this region, which will be considered by the ICYF-DC for future realization. Youth present at the consultation networked actively with like-minded institutions and committed to organizing collective action and civil society work in all essential youth domains.
