STATEMENT BY H.E. AMB. ELSHAD ISKANDAROV, ICYF-DC SECRETARY GENERAL AT THE START OF HOLY MONTH RAMADAN

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam!

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmat Allahu wa Barakatuhu,

With the start of the Holy Month Ramadan, I would like to extend you my warmest wishes and say “Ramadan Kareem”.

During the Holy Month of Ramadan hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide fast from dawn to dusk and offer up their prayers to attain righteousness, peace and prosperity for their families, loved ones and the Ummah at large. For us Muslims, Ramadan is a time for fasting, devotion and contemplation. Many Muslims undergo the sublimation by influence of this Holy Month and let’s hope that our brothers and sisters, in particular young people will keep the outstanding influence of this month as guidance of purity in the year until the next Ramadan.

While the Islamic Ummah is experiencing the excitement of this Holy Month, we have also to keep in mind our sisters and brothers in different parts of the world who have been denied the joy of this month as a result of aggression, oppression, illegality, poverty and natural catastrophes and who continue to strive for the basic rights as freedom and dignity. In this month of mercy, let’s make dua for those who suffer in Syria, Egypt, Arakan (Myanmar), Iraq, Gazza (Palestine) and Somalia, for millions of refugees from Karabakh (Azerbaijan), Palestine and Syria marking Ramadan far from their homes. I also would like to express deep concern about the situation of youth in these countries and my strong belief for their returning back to normal life very soon. ICYF-DC is committed to the ideal of Islamic solidarity and stands together with our suffering sisters and brothers, in particular, youth of Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Arakan and Palestine.

Let us join our prayers to The Almighty Allah Ta\’ala to accept our spiritual efforts during the Holy Ramadan, to bless all our good deeds with the virtues of success and achievement, to provide us with His assistance and support.

Wassalamu Alaykum wa rahmat Allahu wa Barakatuhu,
Amb. Elshad Iskandarov,

ICYF-DC Secretary General
