STATEMENT OF THE ICYF-DC ON INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY, 12 AUGUST

 Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) firstly congratulates youth and youth organizations throughout the world in conjunction with the International Youth Day 12 August and calls on the leading youth organizations to coordinate their efforts in the spheres of mutual interests.

   ICYF-DC highly appreciates the actions made by the UN directed to the solving of the social problems of youth as well as strengthening the intercultural dialogue between youth of different religions and cultures, particularly “World Programme of Action for Youth to the year 200 and beyond”, that is comprehensive document meeting the interests of youth.

   ICYF-DC supports the idea of maintaining dialogue among, particularly an initiative for an “Alliance of Civilizations”, launched the Secretary General of the United Nations Koffi Annan in July 2005. In this regard, the Forum has initiated the project of “Youth for the Alliance of Civilizations” is aimed at highlighting the Initiative on a global scale as well as bringing about establishment of the youth dimension of it through the innovative and intergenerational forum of youth representatives and influential decision makers.

   ICYF-DC highly approves the declaring the “Tackling Poverty Together” as theme for 2006 by the UN and expresses its readiness to cooperate with the youth organizations to discuss this issue and work on concrete programmes on solving the problem of poverty among youth. The Forum from its part is implementing the project of “Promotion Youth Tourism in the OIC Countries” which is also aimed towards the decreasing of unemployment among youth in this region.

   ICYF-DC again congratulates the youth with the forthcoming International Youth Day and expresses its readiness to cooperate with the leading youth organizations of the world in the spheres of mutual interests.
